Steve Vorass · Design + Development
I make complicated businesses look simple online.
Freight forwarders, roofers, nonprofits and at least one drummer (me). Here are some sites I designed and built, and what made each one tick.
01
Skyroof
Roofers shouldn't need a ladder to do math.
Satellite roof measurements in about two minutes, for $9.99 a roof. A brand that looks like it owns a hard hat, and copy as blunt as the people using it.
02
Clickset
A setlist app built by a drummer, for drummers, between songs.
Per-song tempos, a click track, a practice timer and foot-pedal support, so your hands stay on the sticks. It works offline, because the Wi-Fi at the bar never does.
03
heyChicago!
Clarity. Outcomes. Create your village. Loneliness.
Accessible living and support for autistic adults on Chicago's Near West Side, for A+ Autism Solutions. Big-shouldered type, a waving city flag and a hero that crosses out the one thing nobody signed up for.
04
AGI
The Airport People, introduced one big word at a time.
Ground handling and cargo, told in five words: People, Safety, Customer Service, Cargo, Passengers. Then the tools customers actually came for, like tracking an air waybill, sit right in the nav.
05
Position : Global
A logistics marketing agency that had to market itself. No pressure.
Services, a podcast, philanthropy and a body of work, organized so a freight exec finds what they need before their coffee goes cold.
06
Tag-N-Trac
When it matters. Tag it.
IoT trackers and AI that follow pharma and food from SKU to container. The job: make a full-stack platform with three AI products read like one clear story, not a spec sheet.
07
CFI Perishables
Since 1974, moving things that would really prefer not to sit on a tarmac.
Cherries, seafood, flowers and, yes, live baby turkeys. A perishables forwarder whose commodity grid lets shippers find their cargo by sight.
08
Catholic Charities Joliet
Help, organized by what you need, not by department.
Food, shelter, counseling, senior care and early childhood programs across seven Illinois counties. The homepage asks "How can we help you?" and then actually lets you answer.
Print & brand
Off the screen.
Annual reports, logos and packaging, for when the brand has to survive a printer.
More work, fewer words
- Meiborg ↗Freight, warehousing, diesel repair and fuel, under one family name.
- Mercantile Logistics ↗Customs brokerage that reads like a human wrote it.
- Mark-It Express ↗Drayage with its own trucks, its own chassis and a straight rate.
- Dribbble ↗Shots, experiments and things that didn't make the cut.
